Meet Michael

Military Family

Michael has a direct family line in every war fought since the Battle of the Wilderness (for the North) during the Civil War. Liberty is not just a concept for his family, they fight for it.

Husband

Michael met his wife, Amanda, a lifelong Alaskan, while stationed at Fort Richardson, AK in 2008. After spending their engagement with him deployed to Iraq for his second tour of duty, they soon tied the knot and enjoy spending any free time working on their homestead, hunting & fishing, riding machines of all types, and enjoying all Alaska has to offer.

Small Business Owner

After the Army and some time working for the State of Alaska, Michael and Amanda then decided to follow their dreams of owning their own business and opened a food truck, Happy Bison Barbeque, which was known all around the Valley for a couple of very busy seasons.

Mat-Su Borough Assembly

While the District 1 representative on the Mat-Su Borough Assembly, Michael advocates strongly for personal liberty, property rights, fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, and small government. His current term ends November 2026.

Platform

  1. Conservative Approach to Government. This means ensuring fiscal responsibility rather than new taxes and debt, as well as ensuring integrity, ethical conduct, transparency, and accountability.

  2. Pro Life. Our Alaskan Constitution is dedicated to the principle that all persons have a natural right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We must fight to protect the right to life for all Alaskans from conception until natural death because without life, there is no liberty, and without liberty, there is no pursuit of happiness.

  3. Natural Resource Development and Economic Growth. The State of Alaska is open for business, and I will be in support of natural resource development across the State. I will support industry growth and robust infrastructure by guiding the growth of a healthy economy through private investors, not more government. A healthy economy, not taxes, builds strong infrastructure.

  4. Agriculture and Food Security. I believe that supporting Alaskan Grown and local farmers is vital to Alaskan’s food security, health, and local economy.

  5. Term Limits. Studies from conservative groups, such as the Heritage Foundation, suggest that states with legislative term limits consistently achieve better scores for overall fiscal health and budget control. Limiting terms also stops elected officials from making a lifelong career out of holding public office. This ensures lawmakers focus on passing effective policy rather than constantly campaigning for re-election.
