The Army brought Michael to Alaska (JBER) in 2007 while serving as a combat medic. Soon after he met his wife, Amanda, a lifelong Alaskan. Amanda said, “If you marry me, you’re staying in Alaska” to which Michael gladly agreed. They spent much of their engagement while he was deployed to Iraq for his second combat tour, where Michael was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious duty in a combat zone.
After leaving the Army in 2013, Michael started his second career with the State of Alaska. Michael traveled all over Alaska as a state OSHA Health Consultant, worked as the Investigator for the Alaska Board of Pharmacy, served as the Executive Administrator of the Alaska Board of Pharmacy, and is currently the Mat-Su Borough District 1 Assemblyman.
Between working for state OSHA and the Board of Pharmacy, Michael and Amanda decided to follow their dreams of owning their own business and started the food truck, Happy Bison Barbeque, which was seen all around the Valley. This also allowed time for Michael to complete his Master’s degree.
While on the Mat-Su Assembly, Michael fights to protect our Constitutional rights, personal liberty, property rights, small government, lower taxes, and fiscal responsibility, and recently ensured automatic license plate readers (Flock cameras) were banned from the Borough.

How to Vote
Early voting is October 19th through November 2nd. Place your early vote at the Mat-Su Borough Building at 350 E Dahlia Ave in downtown Palmer, Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
Election Day is November 3rd! Polling places will be open 7am through 8pm.
